Bats

A. Beckert

There are a ridiculous number of bats in the southwest. I can reliably see these buggers flitting around my folks' backyard and the urban park in the middle of the city.

I have memories of going to nighttime softball games with my family when I was young and seeing these shadows swooping back and forth across the stadium lights, cloudy with how many bugs swarmed around them.

At the time, I thought they were birds. I thought bats only lived - like so many other animals - somewhere it was colder.

Keep doing you, you funky lil sky mice.
