repeat stops in The Mysterious Benedict Society

Disney released the first season of their adaptation of The Mysterious Benedict Society this year. I haven't read the books, so this was my first exposure.

My folks saw the first episode and their reaction was to intentionally not tell me about it until I was at their house and they could watch it with me.

Me and a remote is like a gremlin given a much-too-powerful weapon of prophecy. It has a job but I will use it to interrupt its purpose at every opportunity!

I turned a 45 minute long show into an hour and a half of show plus all my pauses, fun facts, and raving over the neurodivergent representation all over the intro episode.

Safe foods, niche interests, hyper fixation, different models of ASD in a variety of flavors across the spectrum… all these glorious evidences and facets of neurodivergency.

I think my favorite part was these children were tested in a way that valued their differences. That's so different from how tests tailored for neurotypical people are. Not gonna lie, I was really nervous watching the testing sequences just from decades of doing my best only to have it made super clear there were rules everyone knew but me.
