Filling in Gaps - Aztec Handbook

Updated: Sep 4, 2020

Ever feel a distinct gap in your knowledge? It can show up a lot of ways. But when it does show up, it itches and aches. Look a little closer, fuss with it, and suddenly there's a torrent of questions that need an answer and those answers will take time.

That happened to me this summer, as its happened to me last fall, winter, and spring. But this one was a complete lack of any depth at all to my knowledge of pre-colonial mesoamerica.

So I went looking for books. Vetted books and authors. That process is something to address later.

I've selected The Oxford Handbook of the Aztecs from various ones on the subject. Its recent(ish), has multiple voices, and (because budgets matter) its doable with the Kindle version cost.

No book covers everything. No book is infallible. Helps to go in with reasonably critical expectations.

I'll dig into that more once I've picked it up.

Multiple. (2016). The Oxford Handbook of the Aztecs. (D. L. Nichols, & E. Rodriguez-Alegia, Eds.) New York, New York, United States of America: Oxford University Press.
